Call For Speakers
“Learning to defend ourselves isn’t about gender or taking sides. It’s not about being violent. It’s about defending our right to set and enforce the boundaries that keep us emotionally and physically safe.”
~ Yehudit Zicklin-Sidikman
ESD Global and El HaLev are proud to announce The First Global Conference for Violence Prevention Education.
In the wake of #MeToo, attention to sexual violence, domestic violence and other cultures of violence has grown.
Yet, as in the past, most of the conversations we're having around violence focus on how we can improve secondary prevention, ie. removing victims from dangerous environments and providing support after the fact. We believe that the time has come to put more resources into primary prevention which is a key elemet in creating a safer world.
This conference is an opportunity for practitioners of primary violence prevention methods to come together and look more closely at the innovative methods that have grown over the past few decades. Our goal is to provide resources and information to women and men on a global scale, and create a
dialogue about the implementation of primary prevention programs in both formal and informal education systems.
We are looking for speakers from all walks of life, including social workers, trauma experts, psychologists,
researchers, heads of civil society organizations and NGOs, therapists, Empowerment Self Defense practitioners, government workers, criminologists, and educators to speak on topics related to primary violence prevention.
THE CONFERENCE WILL BE HELD IN ENGLISH.
